A few days after Sylvie was born, I saw on Facebook that a girl who I knew in high school (who is now a photographer) was looking for "baby models." She was offering a free photo shoot and digital images for four babies. I wrote her right away to let her know that we would love for Sylvie to be one of the baby models. She ended up being picked and we were able to get these shots of her when she was 13 days old! I am so glad to have these pictures of her when she was so small.

{Sylvie} 1 Month Old
Our sweet little Sylvie is already one month old!
Sleeping:
We have seen lots of changes in Sylvie's sleeping this past month. I won't lie, the first week or two that she was home was rough. Sylvie cried...a lot...and was really hard to get to sleep at night. There were hours that Drew and I would be trying to get her to sleep, only to have to wake her soon after for her next feeding. Both of us spent a few nights on the couch when the swing was the only thing we could use to calm her down. But after she turned two weeks old and we started learning a little more about what works for her, she's done a little better.
Sylvie gets overtired really, really easily. If you miss the window when she is starting to get tired and don't get her to sleep - watch out! She will be awake and fussy for the next few hours. We've really had to work with her to get the rest she needs during the day but it doesn't always happen. She's not the easiest baby, but we'll keep her anyway :)
Eating:
Sylvie is such a good eater! At her last doctor's appointment (at 3 weeks old) she had gained a pound in a week and weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces. She eats about every 3 ours during the day and has become a pretty fast nurser.
Her doctor did prescribe baby Zantac for reflux/heartburn and that has seemed to help her tummy feel better.
Growth:
As of right now, she can still wear her newborn clothes but they are getting pretty tight/short. She can wear her 0-3 month clothes, but they are still a bit big. I'd give it another week before she's fully in her 0-3 month clothes. I'm glad she's growing, but it's always sad to put away tiny baby clothes!
Likes:
Sylvie is definitely a swaddle baby. I don't know if she loves it as much as Judah did, because she will try to squirm out of it if she is put to bed when she's wide awake. But when we've tried to let her sleep unswaddled, she cannot fall asleep on her own. Her arms will just keep moving and eventually she'll start crying. Exceptions are when she's being held or in her car seat.
Sylvie loves to be held to fall asleep...and we love holding our little girl while she's still so tiny.
Dislikes:
Sylvie does not like pacifiers (yet). She took one a few times our first week home, but now gags and spits them right out of her mouth. They have made her so upset lately we haven't offered one recently. We may try again soon and see if she'll take them, but after that we'll probably stop offering it. I'm completely fine with her not taking a paci; Judah never liked them either and we got used to it.
Sylvie does not enjoy bathtime and makes sure that we know it. :) But she does love to be cuddled when it's over!
Here are some highlights of the month!
